I was recently looking for an affordable wireless IP camera that had infrared and Pan/Tilt. There a quite a few of these to choose from if you are in the market for an IP camera. Foscam makes popular low budget IP cameras but I have yet to try one. The price range for a Foscam starts out at around $80. The bad news about Foscam is that there are fake Foscam cameras out there so you need to watch out. I decided to search for an even lower budget...

During this week beginning August 13, 2012 I’ve seen four Seagate 2.5″ hard drives fail. All of the drives except one are the 500gb size. The other one was a Seagate ST9640320AS 640gb 2.5″ . This is the first time I’ve ever come across a certain brand and size range fail in multiples all in a week. I was recently looking for a 2.5″ mobile drive bay for a desktop computer. I decided to try the Vantec NexStar SE 2.5″ SATA mobile drive bay. In the past two days I have seen the same infection hit two different computer users. The infection causes a fake message to be displayed on your screen. The message appears to be from the FBI, but when you start to look at it you can easily tell it is fake. The message displays a way for you to send payment using Greendot MoneyPak. Greendot MoneyPak can be found at Walmart, CVS, Kmart, 7 Eleven, and Walgreens. It is a payment system where you...

Posted by on Jul 12, 2012 in Apple, Blog, computers, hardware, Technology | 2 comments

There is a little known fact about Apple computers that everyone should know. Apple does not want you to fix your own computer. Over the years Apple has been slowly implementing “features” into their computers that will not allow you fix your Mac. I believe it started out with the 2009 Imac and Apple requiring you to buy compatible hard drives from them because of a proprietary cable system they implemented. No longer could you...

Don’t use Outlook to move IMAP mail

Posted by on Jun 26, 2012 in Blog, computers, email, software, Technology | 0 comments

Using Outlook to move a ton of mail from one IMAP account to another is the equivalent of racing at Indy using your Grandmas Buick Le Sabre. It can be done but you will lose and it will not be pretty. Recently I tried to move a lot of email from an AOL account to Gmail using the built in Gmail “move from another address feature”. This feature is supposed to move mail from one email account into Gmail seamlessly, all you have to do...
