If you are looking for a great free office suite you should check out LibreOffice. It is an excellent combination of programs which rival Microsoft Office and the price can’t be beat. I’ve spent some time with two out of the six programs and they are feature rich and fairly easy to use.

Writer – is a document processor program similar to Word.  It has automatic features such as spell check, auto-formatting, and auto-completion. While using Writer it didn’t take long to learn the ins and outs of the program. One of the benefits is being able to save a document to a Microsoft Office friendly format such as a .docx file. You are then able to email this file to a friend who is using Microsoft Office, and they are able to open it.

Impress – This is a presentation creation program similar to Power point.  Impress has many of the same features as Power point and even a bit more. LibreOffice has templates available for download at templates.libreoffice.org.  Impress can save a file as a .ppt for opening in Microsoft Office.
